General Information For Ohio Specialty Equine License Plate

Text Box: HORSEPOWER OHIO is a volunteer run, nonprofit grass roots effort formed to support and advance horse related activities in Ohio. The funds collected by the sale of the Ohio Specialty Equine License Plate will help equine organizations and people by a simple grant program. What has been done? We have collected over 1,000 signatures of people pledging to buy the plate when it comes out. The next step: Senator Timothy Grendell has sponsored the Horse Power Ohio license plate bill—SENATE BILL 79. We need the support of many Senators. We need all of you to contact your Senator NOW to encourage their support of Horse Power Ohio license plate bill -SENATE BILL 79. How to contact your Senator. If you don’t know who your Senator is, you can follow these simple links to the Ohio State Web Page and find your Senator’s name and E-mail address. www.senate.state.oh.us/senators/SenateZipSearch.html Fill out the form by entering your zip code. Pick your Senator’s name. Click on the E-mail address given and encourage your Senator to support the Horse Power Ohio Equine License Plate—SENATE BILL 79. Senators prefer to receive personal E-mails rather than a form letter. Just a few words is all that is needed. If you E-mail, call or write, please include your name and address in your communication. As an alternative, a sample letter can be copied and pasted to the Legislator’s E-mail address. See Sample Letter. Please personalize the letter by adding the Senator’s name. Be sure to include your full name and address in your communication. Once the bill is law: Please buy the plate. Yearly cost of the specialty equine license plate will be $25.00 above the cost of the standard vehicle plate. Of this amount, $15.00 will be remitted to HORSE POWER OHIO to be distributed via grants to qualified groups for equine related projects of public benefit throughout Ohio. Yearly purchase of the plate will continue to fund the grant.
