      I would like to encourage you to support the Horse Power Ohio License Plate Bill that is being sponsored by Senator Tim Grendell. SENATE BILL—79.

 

     The proceeds of this sale of plates will be earmarked to support the following equine programs: Therapeutic riding programs; Organizations that promote the preservation and expansion of bridle trails and facilities in Ohio; and Educational and public equine awareness programs. 

 

     HORSE POWER OHIO is a nonprofit corporation that has been founded to channel these funds to equine organizations by a simple grant program. We hope to make Ohio the most progressive equine state in the USA.  Please support the passage of this Bill. .

 

     Ohio Farm Bureau Statistics from 10/2005 indicate that there are 306,898 horses in Ohio making Ohio the 6th State in the Nation in the number of horses. The Ohio horse industry contributes $ 2.2 billion to the Ohio economy and creates 43,000 FTE jobs.

 

     The proceeds from the sale of these plates will have a positive economic impact on the State of Ohio. Monies will be funneled back into the economy through the purchase of goods and services, which will also create jobs.
